Cerita ini mengisahkan tentang seorang budak lelaki ( Alex Pruit ) yg baru berusia 8 tahun (Alex D. Linz) diberi kereta kawalan jauh oleh Puan Hess kerana telah membantunya menyodok salji. Beliau tidak lama lagi menjadi sakit dan mesti berada di rumah. Walaupun dia di rumah, dia dapat melihat pencuri melalui teleskopnya dan menyeru pihak polis. Selepas Alex membuat laporan kecurian lagi, mereka masih berjaya pergi dan pihak polis masih tidak percaya kepadanya. Alex kemudian memutuskan utk mengambil perkara yg bijak dengan mengerjakan setiap seorang daripada pencuri tersebut

Empat peringkat antarabangsa mencari penjenayah bernama Peter Beaupre , Alice reben , Burton Jernigan dan Earl Unger  kerana telah mencuri cip komputer peluru berpandu cloaking berharga bagi kumpulan pengganas Korea Utara. Mereka meletakkan cip tersebut di dalam sebuah kereta kawalan jauh utk menyelinap keselamatan yg lalu di Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa San Francisco. Bagaimanapun, Puan Hess (Marian Seldes) sengaja mengambil beg yg berisi kereta kawalan jauh tersebut. Pencuri kemudiannya datang ke Chicago dan sistematik mencari setiap rumah di pinggir bandar Puan Hess untuk mendapatkan cip itu
